Mount Hood and Many Good Memories
THE SHOT
The north face of Mount Hood as seen from the Hood River Highway about three miles south of Parkdale, Oregon in the Upper Hood River Valley.
My first experience of Mount Hood was during the summer of 1962 when as a 18-year-old college student I was lucky enough to get a summer job with the US Forest Service as a lookout on Clear Lake Butte, L.O. in the Bear Springs Ranger District of Mount Hood National Forest.
I returned each of the next two summers to work at the Mount Wilson L.O. which was about six miles south of Clear Lake Butte L.O. and 16 miles south of the summit of Mount Hood.
The experience of those three summers were influential in the future direction of my life in many ways including a move to the Pacific Northwest.
Mount Hood continues to capture my attention whenever I'm near.
